According to South East District DCP RP Meena, on July 20, Sepoy Jitendra was on patrolling duty in the area of police station Hazrat Nizamuddin. While patrolling the area, he reached near Nizamuddin railway station, where he saw two men fighting with each other. One person was trying to dominate another person by saying “chor-chor”.
The duty constable, who reached the spot, overpowered the suspect. On being questioned, the complainant alleged that the said suspect stole his mobile phone. The beat constable brought both to the police station Hazrat Nizamuddin and handed over to the deputed IO ASI Roop Singh.
On being questioned, the complainant Gajendra alleged that he is a driver in a DTC bus and posted on bus route number 966 which runs from Nizamuddin railway station to Nangloi. The accused was standing near the driver’s seat and stole his mobile phone from the dashboard of the bus. On suspicion, he asked to return his mobile but he was refusing to steal it.
Meanwhile, the beat constable reached the spot and brought him to the police station. On a cursory search of the alleged person, a mobile phone was recovered from his pocket which was identified by the complainant. On enquiry, the accused was identified as Rohit Putra Kishore (19) resident of Navjeevan Camp, Govind Puri, Delhi.
After this, a case was registered under the FIR number 212/21 section 379/411 IPC in the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station. The mobile phone recovered after arresting the accused has been confiscated.
On continuous interrogation, accused Rohit revealed that he has no work to earn a living. He is an alcoholic. So, to earn quick money and satisfy his addiction to alcohol, he ventured into the world of crime. Further, he revealed that he had done two more snatchings in the month of July from the area of Hazrat Nizamuddin.
